The Annual examination in Std VIII was over and the midsummer vacation started.  In the hot summer, everyone spoke about the rising temperature.  I remembered the cashew tree which stood in our land and  those in the uncultivated land of Mr Varghese on the left of our land.  As the rubber plants were in their tender age, I could see the buses entering the ascent of the road.  When I see it, I would run    to the backside of our courtyard.  When I drew water from the well, I could see the buses coming from the right side slowly.  Then I couldn't move or hide anywhere.  I would boldly carry out my job.  "I'm not shy", I would speak to myself.
I want to share with you a thrilling experience.  It is related to church and I don't know whether it would be acceptable to you or not.  JSVBS -that was it.  That means "Jacobite Syrian Vacation Bible School".  During the midsummer vacation, the church conducted a ten days programme of learning Bible and Bible stories in an interesting way.  I felt that it was a different kind of learning.  As I was in the higher class, I was included in the higher group.  There were storytelling and the book was designed in  an interesting way.  We had no examination.  We had the freedom to learn.  Therefore, the Teachers could understand the learning level of each student.  We were wondered to see the small children's group performing in colouring because it would be a scene from a Bible story.  In the previous year also there was JSVBS but I forgot to mention it in this story.
There were English songs and Tamil songs also to make it interesting.  I still remember a Tamil song about Noah's Ark. It was like this :-
     Thatha Noah thatha nalla
     Kappalonthu seithar
     Thatha Noah thatha nalla
     Kappalonthu seithar
     Eela Eela Eela! Ailasa!
     Eela Eela Eela! Ailasa !
The end was with a rally from the church through Kadayiruppu junction and again to the church !  During the rally, different songs were sung through the microphone.  I got a chance to sing but there was another girl with me.  I completely forgot who she was !  There were biscuits and tea for everyone.  After that again I walked to my home.  Now, when I think about it, I can't even imagine it.  Then where was my brother ?  I think he also participated in it.
The Southwest monsoon came over Kerala after the midsummer vacation and the schools opened and I was in IXth Std.  Sebin was not there.   His father might have got a transfer, I thought.  There was a newcomer called Jolly in our class.  She was the daughter of a Teacher in a nearby school.  There was Shincy, the daughter of a Teacher in the  LPSCHOOL.  There was Shinto, the son of one of our Teachers !  Then Meera, who stayed in her aunt's house otherwise she wouldn't learn anything.
In the IXth Std, I went to School with Jolly & Meera.  All the Teachers came and joined in the school and everyone was proud of the new school.  When I walked to School and  returned, I liked to talk about the news which I had read in the previous day's newspaper. Then my friends would also join with me.  Actually, they were not interested in it but I could guide them through that way.  Today, when I write this, my mind craves for such friends ( women ) who would discuss the news in the newspapers.
